1. How many people can be included in the shoot?
I only do family shoots of couples with young kids, rather than large family groups. This is because my style has a very documentary approach, and I’d rather capture you interacting with your little ones naturally than posed. Think of it as more of a lifestyle shoot, where you get to be yourselves in an environment that suits you- where your children can run around and play as they normally would, rather than asking them to sit still!

2. How do we choose a location?
It’s important to find a location that suits you as a family, depending on what you enjoy doing together, and where you spend a lot of time together. Whether it be at home, at the beach, having picnics in the park, or at home with your pets by the pool! Try to think outside the box

3. What props should be bring along, if any?
It’s important to think of things that important to you as a family. You are welcome to bring along balloons, ice creams, books, scooters or paint & paint brushes for your kids to make mess and have fun – any of that sort of thing. Depending on location, you should perhaps bring along a picnic blanket to sit on. Don’t forget that pets add character to any shoot!

4. What should we wear?
I try to avoid the ‘denim and white’ look. It’s a little dated, and let’s face it- not everyone looks good in white! I tell clients to wear a colour that really suits them, and items that they feel good in. But it’s important not to clash… So if you’re going to wear your best pink frock, I suggest your family wears something that looks good next to pink! If you look good in anything, then I’ll give you a heads up that pastels look great on the beach, and brights look great in the greenery of a park.

5. What time of day is best for the shoot, and how long is it?
Family Shoots are 1 hour. This is plenty of time to capture you all running amuck and having fun together. The shoot will either be early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Times will depend on the season.

6. What happens if it rains?
We postpone to the next available date for both parties. Plain and simple. We’ll make a call the day before or the day of the shoot, depending on the weather man and the heavens!
